Have you seen the movie? She is independent and confident yet deeply needs to be loved… he is captivated but proud. Maybe you have seen this in your life. You don’t need the television to flash colors of light in front of your eyes for you to see this scene play out. But what I love about this movie is the ending. Sorry to ruin it for anyone who has yet to be dazed by the handsome Mr. Darcy, but I absolutely love when Mr. Darcy uses his most highly esteemed term of endearment “Mrs. Darcy” demonstrating that true love won out. Isn’t it wonderful to imagine someone loving us enough to fight for us? Isn’t it heartbreaking to realize even a person’s love here does not fill our deep longing to be known and understood? Some of us may find a love like Elizabeth Bennett found with Mr. Darcy. Others of us may not know the love of a husband in a tangible form for a lifetime on Earth.
What is most beautiful to me about the ending of this fictional movie is that for me, the ending is a reality. Do I have a husband? No. But I will. I am betrothed and my Mr. Darcy is coming for me. In fact, my ending is far better than even the ending of this highly esteemed movie! My Mr. Darcy never left me. He never doubted me and never stopped loving me. His love was, is, and always will be the same and no term of endearment could ever capture the depth of His love for me. The best news? The same is true for you.
